Adding or removing Countermeasures

Project specific Countermeasure details

A project-specific Countermeasure is like a normal Countermeasure, but with the following distinctions:

  1. Only applicable to a specific project/release.

  2. Unlike normal Countermeasures, a project-specific Countermeasure doesn’t have related rules, How-tos, or underlying Weaknesses.

  3. The identifier for a project-specific Countermeasure begins with "PT" while a normal Countermeasure is prepended with "T".

Add a project specific Countermeasure

To add a new project-specific Countermeasure follow the steps below.

Prerequisites:
  • The user has the permission Project role→Project Management→Add Project Countermeasure.

Steps:
  1. Browse to the Countermeasure section of the project.

  2. Click the plus button on the top-right of the page.

  3. Select option Project Specific Countermeasure.

  4. Enter the required information to the fields provided.

  5. Click Create.

The new Countermeasure is added to the project.

Modify a project-specific Countermeasure

To change the details of a project-specific Countermeasure follow the steps below.

Prerequisites:
  • The user has the permission Project role→Project Management→Add Project Countermeasure.

Steps:
  1. Browse to the Countermeasures section of the project.

  2. Hover over the project Countermeasure from the list of Countermeasures.

  3. Click the icon on the top right of the Countermeasure row.

  4. Update the details.

  5. Click Save.

The Countermeasure’s details are updated in the project.

Delete a project-specific Countermeasure

To remove a project-specific Countermeasure from the project, follow the steps below.

Prerequisites:
  • The user has the permission Project role→Project Management→Add Project Countermeasure.

Steps:
  1. Browse to the Countermeasures section of the project.

  2. Hover over the project Countermeasure from the list of Countermeasures.

  3. Click the icon on the top right of the Countermeasure detail view and confirm.

The Countermeasure is removed from the project.

Add a library Countermeasure to the project

Use the following steps to add a library Countermeasure to your project.

Prerequisites:
  • The user has the permission Project role→Project Management→Add Project Countermeasure.

  • The Countermeasure is not already in the project or will be in the project once content updates are accepted.

Steps:
  1. Go to the project Countermeasures page.

  2. Click on the Add Countermeasure button to bring up the Countermeasure creation form.

  3. Select option Existing Countermeasure From Library. A form with a field for choosing a non-applicable Library Countermeasure is displayed.

  4. Select a Library Countermeasure. The form is auto-populated with its solution, priority, and phase field data. These fields are read-only.

  5. Click Create.

The Countermeasure is added to the project. Its How-to and other rule-based content appear in the project according to the project Survey.

This Countermeasure will also be carried over to a new project release. As this Countermeasure is not assigned from the project Survey, it is carried forward to your new release project with a status of Incomplete. This is performed automatically for your convenience.

Remove a library Countermeasure from a project

Use the following steps to remove a library Countermeasure from your project.

Prerequisites:
  • The user has the permission Project role→Project Management→Add Project Countermeasure.

  • The Countermeasure is not applicable to the project based on its survey selections.

Steps:
  1. Go to the project Countermeasures page.

  2. Select the Countermeasure.

  3. Click Remove Manually Added Library Countermeasure in the top-right corner of the project Countermeasure detail view. If the delete button is not visible the Countermeasure is bound to the project survey.

The Countermeasure is removed from the project. All changes made to the Countermeasure are permanently deleted.
